Memory Span Test

Test your digit span (working memory capacity) by remembering increasingly long sequences of numbers.

The sequence will flash on screen. Memorize it, then type it back.

Memory Span Test

The digit span task measures your working memory capacity β€” the amount of information you can hold and manipulate in short-term memory. It is used in psychological assessments including IQ testing.

  • Average adult digit span: 6–7 digits forward, 4–5 backward
  • Forward span tests simple short-term memory retention
  • Backward span requires mental manipulation and tests working memory more deeply
  • Span can improve with practice and mnemonic techniques (chunking)
