What is error correction?
QR codes include error correction so they can still be scanned even if partially damaged or obscured. The L level corrects up to 7% data loss — good for clean, digital displays. M (15%) is a good general default. Q (25%) and H (30%) are better for printed QR codes that may get dirty or worn, but produce larger, denser codes.
