How to use the Body Indices Calculator

Understanding the indices

  • BMI (Body Mass Index) β€” weight / heightΒ². Simple but does not account for muscle mass.
  • Ponderal Index (Corpulence Index) β€” weight / heightΒ³. More accurate for very tall or short individuals.
  • WHR (Waist-to-Hip Ratio) β€” waist Γ· hip. Risk threshold: >0.90 (men), >0.85 (women).
  • WHtR (Waist-to-Height Ratio) β€” waist Γ· height. Values above 0.5 indicate elevated cardiovascular risk.
  • Navy body fat method β€” uses circumference measurements. Accuracy Β±3–4% vs DEXA.
